May 27, 2003: StonExpo Expands Market Focus and Receives New Association SupportDecember 4-6, 2003 Event Earns Support form Constructions Specifiers Institute and American Society of Interior Designers.
StonExpo, the stone industry’s leading annual trade show and conference, has announced an expanded attendance marketing program to attract more attendees who represent architects, designers and others who specify and work with natural and engineered stone. As part of the new initiative, StonExpo has received support from two significant industry associations.
“StonExpo has always been a key information source for the design and architectural community,” said Pennie Sabel, Executive Director of the StonExpo Federation, the non-profit organization that manages the show. “While architects, designers and those who specialize in remodeling have always been a part of the StonExpo audience, we want to make a concerted effort to expand that portion of our attendee mix. Many of our exhibitors are stone suppliers and the show is an ideal forum for these key decision makers to see the latest patterns, colors and enhancements in order to make specification recommendations to their clients.”
As part of the expanded marketing program, StonExpo has received the support of the Atlanta chapter of the Construction Specifiers Institute and the American Society of Interior Designers. Both organizations have among their members, many individuals who work with stone and would benefit from seeing new product on the exhibit floor and participating in the educational program.
StonExpo is also seeking additional relationships with other related industry organizations. “Whether on the national or regional level, we believe there is substantial benefit to the industry as a whole by establishing more working relationships with related organizations and professional associations,” said Sabel. More industry organizations are expected to join the list of supporters for this year’s show.
StonExpo will be held December 4-6, 2003 in Atlanta’s Georgia World Congress Center. For more information, contact StonExpo Federation, Inc., info@stonexpo.com

Over 4000 industry personnel participated in the trade show, educational seminars and convention activities. Nearly 200 companies exhibited their latest products and services in the StonExpo 2002 trade show. Of the attendees participating, 73% were authorized to make or specify company purchases and 95% found new products or met new suppliers at the trade show. Fifteen percent of attendees said their primary business was fabricating countertops, 16% focused on the residential stone market, 17% on the stonework for the commercial or institutional market, 11% on remodeling or renovation and 12% on the stone used in new construction.
